To homeschool or not to homeschool?

Listening to our President speak about the increase in new Covid-19 infections as a result of neglected and declining adherence to social distancing, gatherings which do not have any of their guests wearing masks, no physical distancing is observed and some stores even offer sanitizer anymore, well in one store I was offered a very diluted solution. It's no wonder we find ourselves sitting and wondering what will become of us in the next month, leading into the new year. What more of the interruptions of schooling for our little ones.

With the United States and Europe experiencing a resurgence, are we heading towards that direction as South Africa? So the number of new infections has the government extending the National State of Disaster to the 15th Dec 2020, this is just a month before schools are to go back? Will schools resume as expected or do we look forward to a delay?

Well, I say let's plan ahead and prepare for another year of homeschooling. It will surely prevent all that stress we were faced with in March and we all know how crazy that phase of 2020 was. Most of us have pretty much figured out the online class scenarios, but is the cost of school fees justified when the building levy is so hefty and the children are in the home for school? Its no doubt that we all have varied views on schooling and homeschooling. My suggestion...? Plan ahead! Avoid the stress, do not let history repeat itself. Take time and look into home schooling options and it is so much cheaper than traditional schooling.

Whatever decision you make we at Montessoriteachermom will be there to help through it. Be it assistance in setting up a homeschool room, teaching aids to support the home learning process and we also offer in-person and online lessons presented the Montessori way to help grasp concepts easier and quicker. Montessori materials were designed scientifically and they offer the child an opportunity to work independently and self correct, this is what allows for independence.

Yes, its possible to integrate the Montessori method into IEB, CAPS and even Cambridge curriculums. Montessori materials or teaching aids, will ensure your little one is adapting to independence quicker as the child is given plenty of opportunity for repetition, the child learns to self direct.
